What to Bring

Make sure you’re well-prepared for the SPSDC with this guide. From clothing to tech essentials, here’s everything you’ll need for a smooth and successful competition day.

Clothing

The SPSDC is a professional event, so we encourage you to dress in smart-casual attire. Think of it as a chance to show your professionalism while staying comfortable. For example, a neat shirt with jeans works well, but avoid ripped or overly casual clothes.

Since the competition is an all-day event, you might want to bring a change of clothes for comfort during the breaks. Remember, you’ll be working closely with new teammates, so a neat appearance helps set a positive tone.

Please avoid school uniforms as we want everyone to integrate seamlessly into their new company teams without any visual reminders of school affiliations. It’s all about working together toward a common goal!

Food and Drink

It’s important to keep your energy up throughout the competition, so don’t forget to bring lunch, snacks, and a refillable water bottle. While some venues may provide basic refreshments, it’s best to be prepared with your own.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please notify the organizers in advance so we can accommodate your needs. We aim to create a comfortable environment for everyone.

Remember, stay hydrated! Bring a refillable water bottle and keep it with you during the day to avoid unnecessary trips out of the workspace.

Technology

A reliable laptop or tablet is essential for tasks like creating presentation slides, running simulations, or conducting quick research. Make sure your device is updated and tested before the event to avoid unexpected issues like software updates or connectivity problems.

Don’t forget chargers and any other accessories you might need, such as a mouse or headphones. If you’re more comfortable sketching designs by hand, bring a scanner app on your phone to quickly upload images to your presentation.

While some participants might go all-out and bring extra monitors or hardware, remember that space can be limited. Keep your setup simple but effective. And don’t forget, the SPSDC cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal equipment.
